The Colossal Foundation and IUCN Species Survival Commission launched a four-year, $4 million partnership to accelerate global species conservation and expand the use of technology in protecting biodiversity. The initiative will support updated IUCN Red List assessments, create grants for overlooked species, strengthen the IUCN SSC network of more than 11,000 conservation experts, and develop AI and other technology tools for conservation. The partnership will also evaluate technologies such as genome sequencing, gene editing, biobanking, and assisted reproduction while maintaining IUCN’s independent scientific standards.
